Fate Can Wait


Musky barroom air infiltrates his nostrils. The cool libation is momentary refuge. A shadowed stranger proposes a choice. “Jump in the ocean or suffer a cruel fate.” But the man is tired and exhaustion is a worse fate to endure. He stumbles into the serenity of his bed. Fate will have to wait.
